Compare exact Barrington and Arcadia models
Choose two actual models before comparing these product families. Arcadia includes large sizes as well as compact ones, so “Arcadia for small yards, Barrington for large yards” is not a reliable rule.
Start with the roof and dimensions
The Barrington 14×12 has a hip-roof design; the Arcadia 12×9.5 uses a sloped roof. The 24×12 Arcadia is another size option. Compare their drawings rather than assuming the family name defines coverage or headroom.
Use the same checklist
- Post spacing and usable openings.
- Overall footprint, overhang and height.
- Furniture or equipment clearances.
- Foundation, anchoring and assembly requirements.
- Complete installed cost and ongoing care.
Read strength claims carefully
Compare the exact model’s published test information and its conditions. A larger total roof-load figure does not by itself rank every structure in one family above every structure in another. Get any site-specific documentation needed before relying on a rating.
Choose around the limiting requirement
If height, access or support positions rule out a model, a lower price will not fix that mismatch. Use the Barrington manual and matching Arcadia documents to settle the installation details before making the final comparison.

Watch a Real Backyard Discovery Gazebo Build in 4K
Before you commit to a gazebo, it helps to see one go together in the real world. Preston and his brother built a Backyard Discovery Arcadia 12′ x 9.5′ cedar gazebo in a single evening, start to finish.
In the 4K video below, you can see how the pre-cut, pre-drilled cedar pieces fit together, how the hardware is organized, and how manageable the process is for just two people. The fresh cedar smell, solid posts, and overall build quality are a big part of why we like Backyard Discovery so much.
If you want to see more photos and details from this exact build, Preston also wrote about the process on his personal site: PrestonShamblen.com/backyard-discovery-arcadia-gazebo-setup. It includes tips, notes, and behind-the-scenes details from the same evening.
