Prepare for Barrington 20×12 assembly before the boxes arrive
Plan this installation from the Barrington 20×12 manual, not a completion time borrowed from another model. This guide covers pre-build checks and does not claim first-hand Barrington assembly experience.
Use the exact instructions
The manual for model 2306172B gives the parts, assembly sequence and anchoring layout. The product listing describes a steel-roof kit; there is no shingle-finishing stage to add to the plan.
Confirm the support before delivery
The manual requires square, level supports. Concrete-mounting hardware is included, while wood-deck attachment hardware must be sourced separately and the deck structure must have adequate support. A compacted gravel or decorative paver surface alone does not establish a suitable anchoring system.
Organize a practical staging area
- Check each carton and inventory wood, panels and hardware against the printed identifiers.
- Keep large pieces accessible without blocking the work area.
- Protect roof panels and finished surfaces during handling.
- Arrange the helpers, tools and access equipment required by the assembly steps.
- Resolve missing or damaged parts before substituting hardware or cutting components.
Plan milestones rather than a promised duration
Separate foundation preparation, inventory, frame assembly, roof handling and final anchoring. Allow sufficient help and daylight for each stage. A smaller Arcadia completed in an evening does not establish a Barrington labor estimate.
Model reference
Compare the seller’s exact package for Backyard Discovery Barrington 20′ x 12′ Cedar Wood Outdoor Gazebo with the manufacturer’s model information.

About the video: This is an Arcadia 12′ x 9.5′ build, a different model. Its timeline does not establish Barrington assembly time or performance.
Watch a Real Backyard Discovery Gazebo Build in 4K
Before you commit to a gazebo, it helps to see one go together in the real world. Preston and his brother built a Backyard Discovery Arcadia 12′ x 9.5′ cedar gazebo in a single evening, start to finish.
In the 4K video below, you can see how the pre-cut, pre-drilled cedar pieces fit together, how the hardware is organized, and how manageable the process is for just two people. The fresh cedar smell, solid posts, and overall build quality are a big part of why we like Backyard Discovery so much.
If you want to see more photos and details from this exact build, Preston also wrote about the process on his personal site: PrestonShamblen.com/backyard-discovery-arcadia-gazebo-setup. It includes tips, notes, and behind-the-scenes details from the same evening.
Final inspection before use
Check the completed structure against the manual, including fasteners, roof components and anchoring. Use the separate PowerPort instructions for that accessory and arrange permanent electrical work with a qualified electrician. Do not add storm braces or alter the kit to compensate for an unsuitable site.
