Backyard Discovery gazebo anchoring and electrical grounding are different
If you searched for Backyard Discovery gazebo grounding, first separate two jobs. Anchoring attaches the gazebo to its supporting foundation. Electrical grounding and bonding concern the electrical installation and its protective paths. Installing post anchors does not, by itself, complete or verify electrical protection.
Start the Arcadia anchoring plan with its manual
The Arcadia 12×9.5 manual, model 2306073B, calls for a square, level supporting installation and includes an anchoring layout. It states that concrete-mounting hardware is supplied, while hardware for attaching to a wood deck is not. The deck must have sufficient structural support.
Have the installer match the actual surface and foundation to those instructions before drilling. A decorative paver layer does not establish what is underneath it or whether that support can carry the anchorage. For soil, gravel, an existing deck, or an uncertain slab, obtain a suitable foundation design rather than adapting a generic pier, screw-anchor, or doubled-joist recipe.
Retain the specified post feet and connection arrangement. Adding an arbitrary gap below a post or substituting fasteners changes the installation and should not be improvised from an online checklist.
Handle the electrical installation separately
The Arcadia product page lists an included PowerPort, but its power source is separate. Follow the PowerPort’s own instructions and have a qualified electrician assess the proposed supply, location, grounding, bonding, and required protection, especially near water. Do not treat a metal roof, post bracket, or anchor bolt as a substitute for that assessment. Plan cable routes without cutting structural members.

Watch a Real Backyard Discovery Gazebo Build in 4K
Before you commit to a gazebo, it helps to see one go together in the real world. Preston and his brother built a Backyard Discovery Arcadia 12′ x 9.5′ cedar gazebo in a single evening, start to finish.
In the 4K video below, you can see how the pre-cut, pre-drilled cedar pieces fit together, how the hardware is organized, and how manageable the process is for just two people. The fresh cedar smell, solid posts, and overall build quality are a big part of why we like Backyard Discovery so much.
If you want to see more photos and details from this exact build, Preston also wrote about the process on his personal site: PrestonShamblen.com/backyard-discovery-arcadia-gazebo-setup. It includes tips, notes, and behind-the-scenes details from the same evening.
Ask for two clear answers
Before using the finished gazebo, confirm how the structure is anchored and how any electrical equipment is safely supplied. Keep the exact model manual and electrical equipment instructions together. Preston’s Arcadia build can help you understand the assembly sequence, but a filmed installation does not approve a different foundation or verify the electrical requirements at another home.
