How to establish Saxony grill clearances without guessing
Use the grill’s exact installation instructions to establish clearances. A generic three-foot side gap or seven-foot overhead gap is not a verified Saxony rule and cannot authorize use that an appliance manual prohibits.
Read restrictions before dimensions
First look for whether the appliance may operate under overhead construction. For example, Weber’s outdoor-use guidance prohibits overhead combustible construction. If your manual contains such a restriction, adding a larger gap beneath cedar framing does not remove it.
Make a clearance drawing
- Identify the exact appliance and gazebo model numbers.
- Copy each applicable restriction from the appliance manual onto the plan.
- Use the Saxony XL drawings to place posts, roof framing and counters.
- Add the equipment with doors, lids and shelves open.
- Check nearby walls, eaves, furnishings and access routes as well as the gazebo itself.
Recognize what remains combustible
Cedar roof supports, posts, decking and many accessories remain combustible. The steel roof covering is only one part of the structure. Do not treat a heat-resistant mat or panel as a certified method for reducing the required separation.
Resolve uncertainty before cooking
Ask the appliance manufacturer about unclear wording and check applicable local restrictions with the relevant authority. Do not run the grill to see whether the wood becomes hot or smoke clears; a trial does not establish an approved installation.

If the required arrangement cannot fit, select a suitable open-air cooking location rather than adding an improvised shield or chimney. A gazebo can still provide a separate prep or serving area where that use meets the relevant instructions.
